It’s kind of the theme around here but let’s be clear, minimalism doesn’t mean the absence of things. it means the presence of better things and the lack of the shit we don’t need (loose translation).
1. EDIT
Editing your closet seasonally is likely to send you into a mild panic so the easier way to do this is to edit at the store. Don’t buy shit you just kinda like or is “of the moment” anyway. If you really can’t see yourself wearing a piece for like 2 years, don’t even bother with it. In fact, if you know you don’t NEED anything don’t even venture to the store and force yourself into temptation.
2. Pursue Pleasurable Essentials
Find the four things that bring you the most joy and focus on those things. You’ll be amazed at how much you multiply the fruits of those four things but not being distracted by shit you don’t really care about.
3. EDIT again
You probably left a few things that you didn’t need from #1. Edit in half, again.
4. Be in love with less
Consumerism is a motherfucker. You don’t have to buy new shit every pay period, eat everything on your plate, watch every episode…take only what you need.
